DIRECTIONS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE KPUP 12
1. First make sure your weapon is unloaded and made safe to work on. NEVER DO ANY MAINTENANCE OR MODIFICATIONS ON A LOADED GUN. That also means no magazine installed with the bolt open exposing the chamber to make sure there is no bullets in the chamber ensuring no accidental discharge is possible. After you've taken all the necessary safety precautions to make the weapon safe you can now being installation of JTI Optic Rail System.
2. First make sure all the parts are present. You should have:
1 Picatinny Rail
1 Dove Tail Bracket
2 10/32 Allen Head Screws
Things you will need:
⦁ 10-32 Tap
⦁ # 21 Drill Bit
⦁ 7/32" Center Punch
⦁ 1/4" Brass Punch
⦁ Hammer
⦁ Small Grinder
⦁ 10/32 Allen Wrench
⦁ Blue Lock Tight
The Jordan Tactial Kpup 12 optic rail can be installed with the kushnapup stock on. It maybe easier out of the stock for holding and clamping purposes. Before you can remove the existing sights, you need to first remove the gas piston from the gas tube. By removing the gas adjustor screw, then pulling out the piston puck. If you haven't cleaned the weapon in a while the puck may not just fall out. Once removed you can now begin installation.( **On some kushnapup models the front sight are not all located in the same place. In this case you still need to grind down the front sight for clearance. You will need mount the rail to the rear dove tail first. This is to use the rail to locate the new hole for the front mount. Once you have mounted to the rear dove tail, take 7/32 center punch down the front hole of the rail and smack to locate the drill hole. Then remove the rail, then drill and tap with a #21 drill bit and a 10/32 tap.**)
First you must remove the factory sights by hammering the dove tail out. Looking down at the dove tail, you will see that there is a slight taper: You need to use the brass center punch to hammer the dove tail out toward the open side of the dove tail. This may take quite a bit of force since the dove tail is pressed in. Take care not mar up the edges of the dove tail groove. Because it can cause interference of fitment of the new dove tail bracket. Once removed slide in the new dove tail to center. Now to the front sight: You need to take a small grinder and grind the sight down to almost flush, then take a center punch and lightly tap the center until you force out the remainder of the front sight. Now you are ready to drill and tap the front sight.
Take a #21 drill bit and open the hole up, then tap with a 10/32 tap. Once the front sight hole has been tap, and the rear dove tail has been installed you are ready to place the optic rail on top. It's a snug fit so you need to align the front hole to the hole you drilled and tapped. Then smack the rail with your hand to try make it flush with the front gas lock. Run the short 10/32 allen screw down the front until you feel thread engagement. Then run the long 10/32 allen screw into the rear until you feel thread engagement. Then equally tighten back and forth until flush. Now you can pull one screw out and apply lock tight, then reinstall and repeat on the other screw. Look down the gas block where the piston is located and make sure that the screw is not protruding, should be flush. Make sure all tap debris is cleared from the gas block and piston area before installation.
